If I knew better, I would have not opted for MiWay Insurance

Post by DrSibiya »

Good People please be very careful when choosing a car insurance. If I knew better, I would have not opted for MiWay Insurance.

PLEASE don’t choose MiWay, I repeat do not choose MiWay!!!!!!!!!!!MiWay &Miway

In 2021 I bought a car and took MiWay car Insurance, I was paying R7000 a month and I never missed any payment.

Early last year while driving on N2 near uMkomaas I got into an accident of which it was beyond my control because I didn’t know that road was damaged by floods hence it is not the road I use often.

I am grateful that God spared my life but unfortunately the car was very damaged. I was not much worried because I knew that I had it insured.

Little did I know that MiWay doesn’t have my back, I made a claim after the accident. It was around May 2022, they took me pillar to post only to reject my claim now claiming that I was speeding.

They don’t want to pay me but I have been paying R7000 a month since I took the insurance.
PLEASE BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!!!!!!

 AKENGIXOXE NJE KAFUSHANE NGESIZULI ,NGATHENGA IMONTO N NGABA INSURANCE NO - MIWAY AND PAYING R7000 PER MONTH BUT AFTER KWENZEKE INGOZI BANQABA UKUKHOKHA BATHI NGOBA NGANGIGIJIMA KU N2, AS UMGQWAQO WAWULUNGISWA NGENXA YEZIKHUKHULU AROUND UMKHOMAZI AND I WAS NOT AWARE UKUTHI UYALUNGISWA AND KWAKUSEBUSUKU BUT BANQABA UKUKHOKHA YIZE KUNJALO. KODWA MAQAHAWE NGITHI NJE QAPHELANI LE INSURANCE

You can dispute the matter direct to their Risk Desk if they still insist on the decision taken, still is not the end of the road.

The only thing you can do further, take the matter up with the Ombuds for short term insurance, normally their numbers should be available on your policy document. I hope they can assist.

If nakhona you are not satisfied then the matter will be taken to court. Good luck my brother.

Next time avoid entertaining the question that comes like "What speed you were driving at?"

Argument is when we drive we don't always put focus on the clock however I may remember that the last time I checked my speed I was within the zonal speed limit.

Even if the report can tell another story on your speed don't ever buy that, stay on your argument, you were the physical driver so his argument is based on a technical report that was retrieved from the system. So it is your word against artificial intelligence.

Speed limit ku N2 is 120km/h so you are allowed to not exceed 40km/h from 120km/h which means if you involve in accident driving more than 160km/h it wont pay bcos you have exceed maximum speed limit read insurance contract very careful guys. Amanye ama insurance like mine don’t pay if accident happen between 00:00-03:00

Hi, I was using Miway insurance also driving Toyota Legend50 4*4. I got hijacked.

I opened the case, I phoned the insurance explained what happened, and the tracker.

They didn't give me any problems and any challenges they sent me an email with all the information required from me.
I collected all the information, evidence, witnesses.

It was a alot but if you give them what they want they will never reject your claim
My claim was approved they paid within a month.

I even got cash back because I had belonging in my car which I lost cash back was around R18000 to buy what I lost that was inside the car.

I also had shortfall cover for my vehicle because it was very expensive, so the insurance paid market value of the car, the remaining balance was paid by my shortfall cover.

In short my vehicle was paid in fully.

And without any struggle with Miway.

You Just need to listen and provide all the information required from you and don't lie.
For Mr Sibiya the speed is not negotiable because if when you are driving a company vehicle and you exceed speed limit and you get involved in an accident you get fired from work.

And remember the insurance will request logbook from the tracker so they can see the speed you were traveling with and if you lied on your statement the logbook will tell the truth and your claim is not approved.

I don't understand why you were paying R7000 for insurance 😳😳😳.

For my bakkie I was paying R2300 and I'm younger than you. The older you get the cheaper the insurance gets. Unless if you have a bad record with insurance companies.

Did you try going to the insurance ombudsman to reporr them. Yes it would have taken time. But we must report insurance that do not cover us for what we pay them for.

I have been with Miway, iv never had a bad experience my car was a writeoff and they paid for everything I didn't have a problem, all I can say is it also depends on the person handling your claim if ubenebhadi wathola umuntu ongenalo uzwelo they will reject your claim because the insurer's decision depends on the reports submitted by the person handling the claim therefore all I'm trying to say is you can have a bad experience with any insurance company you have just got to pray over the person handling your claim that's all

I have worked in the short term insurance space most of my career life.I have worked for more than one insurance entity..I also started and run a short term insurance brokerage(Mamepe Insurance Brokers) that deals with a lot of insurance companies including MiWay.So I deal with claims almost every day.

All that I can tell you is,when clients buy cars their intention is to release a car from a dealership.Let alone the pressure from the sales executives at the dealership to sell your that car. That is not buying insurance or peace of mind. When you get insurance without proper research the results can be so dire.

The history of the company that you choose as your insurer is important. There is a reason why we prefer insurance companies that have long been in the market and have a strong asset base as a start when sourcing quotes.
You don't want to feel like you being investigated when you have a claim.Lastly,a cheap premium does not guarantee peace of mind. You want value for money should the unthinkable happen.

To the Dr,have you taken your matter to the Ombudsman and what was the outcome?
I am sorry you had to go through all this.

If I got you correctly you said you were traveling at 130km/h on a 120km/h freeway no insurance will pay for someone exceeded speed limit even traffic police will give you a ticket

I had a bad experience with My Way, they rejected my claim too after an car accident , I was up to date with payments , after they collected the car , assessed it , decided to reject the claim and I had to arrange my own pick up truck to collect it from them .......the reason for rejection didn't make sense but I think they were avoiding the cost of Fixing my Jeep, I tell everyone around me never to go for My Way...

true 5 claims with Miway in the past 10 years years, all of them were settled. Next tym she must read terms n conditions of the contract. So that you won't mess other peoples business.

If all fails, claim from the organ of state responsible for the road. If it’s a municipal road, claim from them. They do pay for damages caused by their infrastructure

Mfethu I'm very sorry for this, but there is only one question I would like to ask, what does tracker record says about your speed? Did you requested them from your tracker company? It could help on this, nayo ke premium it was high but uwena owaziyo ukuthi yini indaba. I had the same bakkie and I was using MiWay insurance also, got the accident same month, same year and our accidents were almost the same but my claim was successful.

Okay, I cannot say it only myway. Infact all insurance companies always look for loop hole not to pay your claim that how they making money out of our petty mistakes. Unfortunately if your over the speed limit and they can prove it I doubt the court can be on your side

Do u mean u were paying R7000 for insurance or it includes car installment?

Anyway always read ur insurance contract b4 hand which most people don't and u can always reject it if u r not happy with the terms and conditions.

Secondly the statement u record after the accident and whatever u tell the insurance people must be the same, and last for don't lie to the insurance on the speed u r going especially if ur car has a tracker, they'll ask for tracker report

Askis but it's obvious u whr speeding, if u whr speeding vele Insurance they not gonna cover your claim, simple like this, when u join the Insurance they ask if the car is it for personal use or business and u say it's for personal and u get involved into n accident and wena they ask uthi u whr goin to a business meeting khohlwa mfowethu angeke bakubhadale cs wena uthize it's a personal car....so MiWay or any other insurance if u speeding khohlwa they not gonna cover your car
