Western Cape police searching for gunmen who killed 5 people in Atlantis

Five others were injured in Wednesday's mass shooting.

The victims were returning home from Silverstroom beach in three separate vehicles when gunmen opened fire on them.

The incident happened on the corners of Old Mamre and Silverstream Roads.

The shooting is gang-related.

Victims are between 18 and 30 years old.

Police Spokesperson Novela Potelwa says, “Anti-gang detectives worked through the night in search of the gunmen.

As the search continues, Atlantis police have opened murder and attempted murder dockets for investigation.

No one has been arrested for the incident that is believed to be gang-related.”
