Security Officer Shot Dead and his Colleague Deprived Of Firearm in Missionlands - KZN

A 51 year old Security Officer was shot dead and his colleague was deprived of his firearm on Estuary Drive in Missionlands - KZN yesterday (Sunday).

The Security Officers are employed at a Durban based Security Company. They were guarding employees from the Ethekwini Water Services (EWS) while they were replacing water pipes in the area.

Four (4) suspects approached the Nissan NP 200 bakkie and robbed the driver of his Norinco 9mm pistol containing eight rounds of ammunition.

They fired multiple rounds at his colleague who was seated in the unbranded vehicle. The suspects thereafter fled on foot in an unknown direction.

A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was on patrol in the area when he was flagged down for assistance.

The Reaction Officer contacted the RUSA Operations Centre at approximately 10:19 and requested urgent medical assistance for the injured male.

On arrival, RUSA Paramedics discovered that the victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head, chest and face. He was pronounced deceased on arrival.

No other injuries were reported.

Reward Offered For Arrest Of Murder Suspects: Ethekweni - KZN

KSA Security has made contact with Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) seeking assistance in locating suspects responsible for the the Murder of a Security Officer & Theft of a Firearm.

Sikhumbuzo Selby Ngcobo (51) died on scene at Estuary Drive in Missionlands - Verulam in Kwazulu Natal this morning at approx 10:19 whilst on duty. Four (4) suspects opened fire on the unmarked white Nissan NP200 bakkie while two Security Officers were seated in the vehicle securing a team from Ethekweni Water Services (EWS).

The driver of the bakkie was deprived of his firearm and did not sustain any injuries. Reaction Officers attending the scene requested immediate assistance from Paramedics after they found the Officer with multiple gunshot wounds to his head, face and body. Upon arrival, Medics declared him deceased.
