SAPS arrest nine suspects believed to be involved in a fraud and extortion syndicate.

A multi-disciplinary crime intelligence driven operation led by North West Crime Intelligence and Kimberley Detectives resulted in the arrest of nine suspects believed to be involved in a fraud and extortion syndicate.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, 12 December 2023, in Schweizer-Reneke after information was received.

During the arrest, 14 cellphones were confiscated, and four diamonds were found in the possession of the suspects.

The nine suspects, eight men and one woman, between the age of 39 and 49 are alleged to be connected to fraud and extortion cases in other provinces. The suspects are from Bloemfontein, Christiana, Gauteng, Kimberley and Schweizer-Reneke.

The suspects will appear in the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court soon.
