Three Dead and One Missing in N3 Crash near Chatterton Road in Pietermaritzburg

Earlier this afternoon, Mi7 National Group's Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after reports of a Motor Vehicle Accident on the N3 Southbound carriageway near Chatterton Road in Pietermaritzburg.

It is believed that the driver of a truck lost control and crashed into another truck and a delivery vehicle.

Unfortunately, this led to multiple casualties. Three people lost their lives, including two from one vehicle and one from another.

Pietermaritzburg firefighters were on scene to extricate the deceased from the wreckage.

Construction workers installing barriers on the roadside had to flee to avoid the crash, however, one worker is still missing.

It is feared the worker may have been run over by a vehicle, and trapped underneath the wreckage.

The police's Search and Rescue teams, at the time of this report, were enroute to find the missing worker.

Mi7 medics treated and stabilized another occupant from one of the vehicles. They were transported to hospital for further care.
